A new safety system with the power to stop and turn around potentially dangerous vehicles has been brought in on the Dartford Crossing.
Under the new system oversized lorries and hazardous loads travelling northbound from Kent to Essex will be turned around before they enter the tunnels.
The large vehicles will then be directed into a separate lane where they will be met by an escort and escorted through the tunnel.
