A van driver narrowly avoided serious injury after his vehicle was damaged by an object - believed to be a brick - thrown from a bridge above the A12 this morning.
The incident happened at about 8.15am near Stanway when the vehicle was travelling southbound and passing under thefootbridge between junction 27 and 26.
The van driver noticed a figure standing on the footbridge moments before an object hit his windscreen directly in front of him and at eye-level.
